Beautiful Goa beach at sunset

Everyone thinks Goa is expensive. And yes — if you stay in beach resorts, eat at fancy shacks, and party every night, it can be. But I recently did a 3-day Goa trip for just ₹4,850 — including travel, food, stay, and sightseeing. Let me show you exactly how.

"Goa doesn't have to be expensive. You just need to know where to go — and where to avoid."

My Complete ₹5,000 Budget Breakdown

Here's every rupee I spent on my 3-day Goa trip:

💰 3-Day Goa Trip — Full Budget
🚂 Train (Sleeper class, both ways)₹800
🛏 Hostel dorm (2 nights × ₹350)₹700
🍛 Food (3 days at local shacks)₹900
🛵 Scooter rental (2 days × ₹300)₹600
🏛 Sightseeing & entry fees₹250
☕ Chai, snacks & extras₹350
🎁 Small souvenir (fridge magnet!)₹250
Total Spent₹3,850 🎉

I even had ₹1,150 leftover! Here's exactly what I did each day 👇

Day 1 — Arrive & Explore North Goa

01
Arrival + Calangute + Baga Beach

🚂 Morning: Train arrives at Madgaon/Thivim station. Take a local bus to Panaji for ₹30 — don't take a taxi (they'll charge ₹400+).

🛏 Check in: I stayed at a hostel dorm in Calangute for ₹350/night. Clean, safe, and full of fellow budget travellers.

🛵 Afternoon: Rented a scooter for ₹300/day — the best way to explore Goa. Drove to Baga Beach, walked around, watched the sunset for free.

🍛 Dinner: Ate at a tiny local dhaba near the market — fish curry rice thali for ₹120. Delicious!

Day 1 Total: ₹900

Day 2 — Old Goa, Panaji & South Goa

02
Old Goa Churches + Panaji Streets + Colva Beach

Morning: Rode to Old Goa (UNESCO site) — entry is completely FREE. The Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral are stunning. Spent 2 hours here.

🏘 Midday: Explored Panaji's colorful Latin Quarter (Fontainhas). Beautiful Portuguese-style streets, free to walk around. Had chai for ₹15.

🌊 Afternoon: Drove to Colva Beach in South Goa — much quieter and cleaner than North Goa beaches. Swam, relaxed, and read a book. Cost: ₹0.

🍜 Dinner: Chicken Xacuti + rice at a local restaurant near Panaji — ₹150. Absolutely worth it.

Day 2 Total: ₹750

Day 3 — Dudhsagar Falls & Departure

03
Dudhsagar Falls Day Trip + Departure

💧 Morning: Took a shared jeep to Dudhsagar Falls — one of India's most beautiful waterfalls. Shared jeep costs ₹400 per person return including forest entry fee. Totally worth it!

🌿 Afternoon: Back to hostel, checked out by 12pm (most hostels allow late checkout for free). Had a final Goa fish thali for ₹130.

🚂 Evening: Local bus to Madgaon station (₹25), evening train home. Perfect ending!

Day 3 Total: ₹700

My Top Money-Saving Tips for Goa

💡 Ye Tips Follow Karo — Paise Bachao!
Off-season mein jao (May–Sep) — hotel prices 50% kam ho jaati hain. Thodi garmi hoti hai but savings bahut zyada hoti hain.
Scooter rent karo — taxi aur auto se 5 guna sasta. License zaroori hai. Daily rent ₹250–350 mein milta hai.
Local dhabas dhundo — beach ke peeche ki galiyaon mein sasta aur swadisht khana milta hai, beach shacks se 3x sasta.
South Goa choose karo — North Goa tourist aur expensive hai. South Goa ke beaches quiet aur saste hain.
Sleeper class train lo — flight se 5x sasta. Konkan Railway route bahut scenic bhi hai!
Free beaches explore karo — Goa ke saare beaches free hain. Entry fee wali jagah pe mat jao.

Final Thoughts

Goa ko expensive hone ki zaroorat nahi hai. Sahi jagah rehna, local khana khana, aur scooter se ghumna — in teeno chezon ne meri trip ko ₹5,000 se bhi kam mein amazing bana diya.

Agar tum bhi Goa jaana chahte ho lekin budget ki chinta hai — to ye post save kar lo aur plan karna shuru karo. Main promise karta hoon, ye trip aapki zindagi ki sabse yaadgaar trip hogi! 🌊

Happy Travels! 🇮🇳
